How to improve healthcare services with ICT

Framework to improve healthcare services with ICT

The purpose of the eHealth project is to contribute to capacity building of developing and using health facility information systems in Tanzania. It means for locally developing and supporting reliable eHealth systems which fulfill the Tanzanian needs and providing support for the eHealth decision makers.

This framework seeks to guide health facilities to create their own road map for designing health care services, selecting a suitable and usable eHealth system for a health facility and for preparing  deployment. A road map is a strategic plan that defines a goal or desired outcome and includes the major steps or milestones needed to reach it. It is usually divided into phases.

The framework consists of the following parts: Analysis and design business processes, Procurement or development health facility information system and Business intelligence. Based on these tasks, the health facility can create their own road map for future development.

Service design is the activity of planning and arranging people, infrastructure, information systems, communication and material components of a service in order to improve its quality, and the interaction between the service provider and its users. Service design may function as a way to inform changes to an existing service or create a new service entirely. The health facility can make use of the following tasks collected during the eHealth project:

Analysis and design business processes

Procurement or development health facility information system

  • National guidelines and standards for health facilities: MORE HERE

Business intelligence

  • Collection, integration, analysis and presentation of business information by using related technologies and applications in order to support business analysis and decision making: MORE HERE

The tasks can be done overlapping with each other. The health facility can also start building a road map that points to future development steps and projects
